An immersive exhibit for TED’s climate-focused summit in Detroit.
The TED Countdown Summit was a landmark conference in Detroit, 2023, showcasing solutions and responses to the climate crisis.
DearTomorrow was invited to bring our collection of dreams, visions and messages to create a platform for conference attendees to offer their own responses.
We filled the conference space with personal letters gathered from around the world, augmented by audio and film works from our DearWolverhampton collaboration in the UK.
The experience featured a residency and site-specific work created by Detroit-based embroidery artist, Fatema Haque. Her piece, which threads DearTomorrow letters into an interconnected tapestry, continues to grow and travel along with our exhibits, becoming a living embodiment of our collective ode to the future.
The exhibition was able to reach some of the most influential thinkers and leaders tackling climate change today.
Nine hundred global climate leaders and innovators visited our participatory exhibit and contributed their vision of the future, and our installation was voted as one of the top three exhibits at the week-long event.
TED Countdown (Detroit) is a global initiative to champion and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis, turning ideas into action through collaboration and community. The Detroit gathering brought together changemakers, artists, and thought leaders from around the world to explore a more sustainable, hopeful future.
